Interesting Sponser
As I was sitting in a class that I take notes in (I work with resource students at a middle school) I was reading the back of a girls shirt from some sort of basketball camp or contest. One of the sponsers of the back of the shirt was a liquor store. Yes, the liquor store is in the town, but did it really need to sponser a middle school sports event? Couldn't they have just put the owners name? It just struck me as odd.

We Broke The Bed
Go ahead, say all of those cheesy sex lines about how we broke the bed. We bought our bed on sale Memorial Day weekened and we both started occupying the bed in July. The other day, Ayron went to flop down on the bed to over exxagerate a point and we heard a loud "crack." We thought the bed frame had just hit an underbed storage box, but when we got in bed that night, the cracking continued, only this time it was followed by popping. We (meaning I nagged and Ayron finally examined) looked at the bottom of the box springs and apparently Ayron's gymnastical move broke one of the main support pieces in our box springs. After talking with the guy at the store we bought the bed at for a week, Ayron and Phil are down there now getting new boxsprings for free (under warranty).
I manged to come home and start my paper of the order of the pilgrims in the prologue of The Canterbury Tales. I have 4 pages already and I still have two main paragraphs and my conclusion to type yet! I thought, "Ahh, I've got a good start and a headache so I'm gonna go take a nap while I have the house to myself." I walked into the bedroom only to be reminded that the bed is torn apart. So much for my nap. I took a hot shower instead.
I feel like one of my cats I used to torture. The sun is at the backside of the house and shinning through a decorative lamp thingy on our back porch. Well it is causing a sparkle to come through and shine on the dinning room wall. That normally wouldn't bother me except for the fact the wind is blowing and therefore causing the sparkle to run up and down the wall like a flashlight beam. It's driving me crazy! Why do animals feel the need to chase something like that? If I was halfway motivated, I'd just get up and go move the lantern thingy.
On another completly random note (When I write paper's I develop ADD) I saw an ad for John Freeda's new hair glaze. I am curious about trying it. I have a funky shade of blonde/brownish hair. I have dried dying it (both brown and red) and it still just looks dull. So in an another attempt to procrastinate I think I will do some internet research on this new product.

It's coming out for good
Every day is another day closer to THE day. While I'm not looking forward to the ordeal I know it has to be done. I am getting advice from anyone who has ever had it done. So far here are the tips I've acquired. Feel free to add to my list via the comments section. It seems the more I talk to people the more comfortable I get with the idea.
1.) If you have to fart, fart. Don't resist it, fart
2.) get a body pillow and snuggle. No problem there, I've already got one.
3.) Take your pain meds, even if you don't think you need it. This for me could be a problem. I am not the type who likes to just swallow pills but I have a feeling I'll quickly get over this "fear."
4.) Sleep. This one I know I can master. I have been perfecting my sleep for the past 22 years. I am a pro at 4 hour power naps!
Well I came into my mom/sister's to use the faster internet connection to do some research for a paper due monday so I should probably stop procrastinating and get this paper done. Ohhh, my tummy needs fed...hm......no, must write paper

Just when you think...
...you've finally become an adult, you realize you still need to get a summer job like all the other college schmos. While trying to decide what to do over spring break if I don't have surgery for my gallbladder (a complete different story) I decided I should begin looking for a summer job. I put my resume in at GKB for the open High School English position, but I won't know about that till later and while it would be nice to have the summer to prepare for my first year of teaching finacially that is not an option. I thought about seeing in T.Rental needed some summer help setting up tents or working in the party side, but I don't know if I want to work at the same place as Ayron. I thought about calling the "new" (under new owners) daycare that I worked at for a year and seeing if they need help but the thought of little kids is not a positive one. I could always try the golf course, "beer b*$%&" doesn't have a nice ring to it, but I can drive golf cart and enjoy the lovely weather. I don't know yet...
In another random section of my wandering mind....why does everything happen at once? Life was going along smoothly till this stupid gallbladder thing. I go in tomorrow for my HIDA scan and I am not looking forward to drinking a lovely potion that will make my insides glow. Then to top it off, I got a call from my "woman" doctor last week telling me that my PAP Smear came back odd. It's not HPV (it never could have been for various reasons) and its not cancer, its just odd. Isn't it comforting to know that with all the medical advances in this world all they can tell me is that "It's odd." I'm not slamming the medical field (don't knock on those who have powerful painkilling drugs) because my mom and aunt are both nurses, but "It's odd." Come on.
Well I should probably go to class since I drove all the way down here. Maybe he'll have our papers that we turned in 4 weeks ago!

BoReDoM
I am bored. It's saturday night at 10:30 and I'm bored. We are getting up at 6am tomorrow to go to Cabella's in Dundee Michigan so I should go to bed, but nope. I'm waiting for a guy to email me for a paper for my African Lit paper I put off. The rough draft is due on Monday and of course I didn't contact the guy till like Monday, and then with being sick, the paper just took the back seat. In a meager attempt to furthur postpone the writing of my paper, I will fill out yet another survey I have stolen from my sisters site.
1. Who was your best friend(s)? Kianne, Kim, Dawn, Sarah, Emily, Ade, Tiffany
2. What sports did you play? I "managed" the volleyball team my freshman year, but playing...I did none
3. What kind of car did you drive? My parents blue beast of a Ford, or if I was lucky, my grandpas Olds
4. It’s Friday night, where are you at? Probably hanging out with friends, Kianne's house or the basketball game
5. Were you a party animal? Do band "parties" count
6. Were you in the “In Crowd”? Not even close, but I don't think I was considered a dork either. Somewhere in the middle.
7. Ever skip school? Isn't that the point of your senior year? Heck, they put the crazy old librarian in charge of cadet teaching. I often had breakfast with Adrienne
8. Ever smoke a cigarette? NEVER. Not after I watched what it did to my grandma and after having her live with us
9. Were you a nerd? I was normal. Not popular but not a loser
10. Did you ever get suspended/expelled? No, I actually tried to sneak into school once. I was really sick my senior year and missed a lot of school. I tried to come in early to take a test and the principle caught me.
11. Can you sing the Alma Mater? Nope. But I know the Alma Mater for the school I work for now. "Oh Garrett High School, Oh Garrett High School, Garrett High School We're All For You..."
12. Who was your favorite teacher? Mr. Rayle, This is how crazy this guy was. He had a daugther and they named her Ginger. Take a look at his last name again (its pronoucned Rail). Yes, they named her Ginger Rayle. Oh, and his dog's (a large lab) name was "kitty"
13. Favorite class? Psych, Adv. Psych,
14. What was your school’s name? DeKalb High School
15. School mascot? The Barons
16. Did you go to Prom? Junior Year: Went with Adrienne and Josh (he thought he was cool, two girls) Senior Year: Ayron (he barely fit through the arch way at the little intro/parade ceremony in the gym. Grand March, that's what they called it.
17. Would you go back again and do it over? Knowing what I know now, yes. Could we skip the whole parental divorce in the middle of my senior year though?
18. What do you remember most about graduation? HOT!!! Oh, and I sat between the two biggest guys and I swear they forgot deodarant that day and for some reason they kept wanted to strech out and put their arms around my chair. STINKY! Oh, and Joe M. made some comment about the psychic "Cleo" in his speech. And didn't the Canadian lead the pledge?
19. Favorite memory of senior year? Screwing around in Cadet Teaching. The couch in the back of Tubergan's room. Going out to our "schools" during finals, bribing the security guard with Wendy's so he'd let us back in. Using Emily to convince the principle we were going to our schools to teach.
20. Were you ever posted on the senior wall? Is that like having your name writting in a bathroom stahl? I'm gonna say no.
21. Did you have a job your senior year? Scott's.
22. Who did you date? An idiot off and on for 3 1/2 years and then Ayron
23. Have you gained weight since then? Actually lost a Freshman 25...let's just leave it at that shall we
24. What did you do after graduation? Ran away to Purdue, but eventually I moved back.

New Veggie
My family has been on this "New Mayo Clinic Diet!" and of course I've been following it to a "T" (insert sarcasm here!). I have managed to lose about 10 pounds but I don't know if that is because of the diet or the illness, either way....getting on with my point. We have been trying out new veggies. The other night we had grilled asparagas. Keep in mind that I'm not adventerous when it comes to new foods, let alone green foods. I was suprised. I loved it! It was very yummy and it didn't taste like a normal green veggie!
This weekend is our "2 days" off the diet so of course we have Ayron in the kitchen cooking up "Dad's Famous Pancakes" (he's the only one that can make them almost as good as daddy can!). I think homemade chocolate chips and brownies fall somewhere in today's menu as well.
I should probably go be productive, but it is 8am on a Saturday morning and I'm still trying to figure out what the heck I'm doing awake this early on my day to sleep in!!

Finally Stopped Chasing My Tail!
I feel like I have been putting my "life" on hold while I frantically juggle school, work, family and laundry. I finally have an evening to catch up with myself and take a look around. Granted, the week has been one "Mell of a Hess" but I am still alive and everything happens for a reason right? I know that Sarah is out there praying for my sanity and I appreciate it more than she'll ever know.
Let see, a game of catch up...
Sunday morning (2:34 am to be exact) I woke up with what I thought was a back cramp. I went out to the couch and as timed passed I realized I was having another gallbladder attack and it was not going to be a happy one. I gave up around 5:30am and went back into the bedroom and sobbed "Ayron, it really hurts. Will you just hold me?" He was able to talk me into going to the ER. I wanted to shoot the recpetionist when she said, "Will you have a seat in the waiting area until I call you." Keep in mind I was the only one in the whole freaking ER! But I sat, what else was I gonna do, go run a marathon? After several hours of being heavily drugged, I was finally discharged. I ended up spending the rest of Sunday sleeping off the heavy drugs. My attack ruined the family's "spur of the moment trip" to Cabellas. I kept saying, "I'm so sorry..."
I spent Monday morning back in the hospital having an ultra sound done on my tempermental gallbladder. The ultra sound showed that my gallbladder is hardening. I then proceeded to sleep the rest of Monday away. I go back next Tuesday for a HIDA scan and hopefully it will tell them exactly the problem and they can finally fix it!
Tuesday sucked. My father in law took my dog, Oreo, back to the shelter. She was getting to be a big handful and Ayron and I decided it was the right thing to do. I know it was the right thing to do, but she was still my first dog and it was (and still is) hard.
Well, I guess that's the long and the short of it. Nothing major. Hahaha. I decided to take an evening for myself and get caught up with friends I have been neglecting.

How Many People?
After testing the limits of my old twin bed, Ayron, Mom and I concluded that three people is one person to many on a twin bed. My sister has the bed up on "stilts" so she can store stuff under it. When I was reading something to my mom off of the laptop she began to do that giggle dance of hers where her legs bounce (keep in mind shes short so her feet don't touch the ground if she sits back) and the bed just pushed right through the stilt.
You would think that our experiement was complete, but apparently there was another part that I was not made aware of until today. It is amazing how many people I can cram into my old bedroom (nat's now). Mom, Nat, Nun, Ayron, Me, two beagles and two cats. I wish I would have known that in high school! Just kidding mom, jeez. I can hear that little clicking noise she makes from here!

One Hell of a "F" Day!
Well, we gave up our dog today. She went willingly, but she went back to the shelter. She was getting to big and attacking the other two dogs. I'm sad, yet I know that it was the right thing to do.
Spent most of the weekend in the ER with gallbladder issues. I had an ultrasound and I have to go back on Tuesday for a HIDA Scan. I did some research on a HIDA Scan and the words "radioactive" keep coming up. YUCK! Radioactive? Come on now people!
Well I'm stressed and tired so I'm gonna go take a nap.

RENT!
I am so excited! RENT comes out on video tomorrow!! Yeah!! Hopefully our lovely (said sarcastically) wal-mart will have it in stock when I get out of work tomorrow.
I can't believe I actually drug my butt to campus today. I have a killer headache and something going on with my nose. I have had a constant nose bleed all day. Yuck. Well since I'm here on campus I should probably go to class!

The Past
On my lovely drive to campus two days a week I have discovered that I use that time to reflect. Not a bad habit to have, but it can be detrimental. I have discovered that lately I have been beating myself up over mistakes I have made like 2 years ago. Why are these mistakes still haunting me? They are not causing any consequences now, they are done and over with, yet I still find myself thinking about them. Nothing would be drastically different I were given the opportunity to relive those moments, so why do I dwell?
On a lighter note, I did manage to start my 8 page paper today at work. I have two pages hand written. I usually don't hand write anything, but this "Chaucer" class could be the end of me!

Long Time No Blog...
It is amazing how you will avoid blogging until you get a chance to use cable internet instead of your dial-up. Not like I have had anything exciting to blog about. We managed to get our taxes done today, thanks to my internet savy sister. Getting more back than we had planned so we are going to pay off three credit cards and close those accounts! Yeah!! I am praying that this snow keeps up so that I would have a delay or maybe a cancellation of work tomorrow. I could use the day to organize the guest bedroom that I have trashed and work on a paper that is due this week. See, I told you my life was boring!
We went shopping yesterday at Kohl's thanks to my aunt! We bought some new pillows for our bed, a Betty Crocker bake-n-fill, and a set of really nice wine glasses. If only we had an actual kitchen of our own to put them in!!

Why Don't We Just Shoot the Sucker!
After reading that the stupid little groundhog saw his shadow I have come to two conclusions:
ONE: Our country needs some help! This is just more proof that our country is young (compared to other parts of the world). What other country relies on a furry little animal that looks like a cross between a rat and a buck-tooth bunny to tell them the weather. People spend thousands of dollars to go to school and become meteorologists. Why don't we ask them? Heck they have fancy computers and radars to tell us the weather. But noooo, someone decided that we should base our weather on a fat fuzzy creature that lives in the ground!
TWO: Even though the whole concept is somewhat dumb, who ever decided what it meant when he saw his shadow must have been smoking some serious crack. As it goes now, if the creature sees his shadow, we have more winter. Does this seem backwards to anyone? If he was able to cast a shadow there must have been some sun. If there is sun, there is better weather ahead. Sun/shadow should equal spring. That stupid groundhog and the creator of the the whole event must have gone to IU to get their degree!
My father-in-law asked what I writing about and I said, "The groundhog thing." He said, "Heck, I think the little guy would look better with a bullet through him!" Ok, now don't go sending the authorities to our house. He is not actually going to waste his time and ammunition to kill something we could just hit over the head with a shovel (with this method, you get more exercise and that rewarding little "bing" noise when the skull is introduced to the shovel). Ok, I'm not really this sick and twisted, but it is funny to pretend. Crap, an after thought. If that little "Phil" guy (I mean the groundhog not my brother-in-law) shows up dead all fingers point to me. Hammy...I'll just turn and point to my father-in-law!

Electronics Anyone?!
Well in order to mainstream myself I have decided to begin looking at MP3 players and jump drives. While I do not plan on buying an actual "I Pod," I am looking at them just to see what is so facinating about them. If anyone has any advice on which brand works the best and is still reasonable, let me know.
I am in the computer lab at the IPFW library and the guy across from me is listening to music and "directing" the musicians. I started to laugh and then he looked up. It is funny what people do when they think no one is around!

Modern Outhouse?!?
My father-in-law spent the weekend doing some minor repairs to our downstairs bathroom. He decided to lay new "tile" so the toliet needed to be removed. We decided to throughly clean the toliet (hard water leaves its mark) so Ayron put it out back so we could hose it down. When I walked through the kitchen, I was struck by the sight of our toilet as a lawn ornament! Hey, it is worth a laugh. At least we didn't plant flowers in it!

Stupidity reigns Supreme!
Last night Ayron and I went to my brother's house (by brother I mean brother-n-law and wife) to drink, eat, play cards and watch movies. We were playing BlackJack when my two year old niece decided she wanted some candy and pointed to some "pop rocks." Deciding that it could be an amusing moment, N (my sister in law) gave her a little bit. M (the niece) thought it was hilarious and decided she liked them. In a buzzed moment (yes mom, I was buzzed, but I didn't drive and I am 22) I dared a guy on the fire department (my brother is a chief and my sister is the president) to take some poprocks and then fill his mouth with 7-up. J being the macho man type to never turn down a dare, accepted my drunken challenge. We made him stand over the sink and told him not to swallow. He looked like a volcano! His eyes got really big and then red "lava" started spewing out his nose. He didn't think to open his mouth, and it didn't help that Ayron was saying, "Don't swallow! Don't swallow!" My niece was a little freaked out because she thought "J's head go pop?!" It was funny! N and I were laughing so hard we were crying and trying to not pee our pants at the same time. It was so funny!

More proof I am getting older
What do you get when you have two stubborn sisters born 7 1/2 years apart? Two very stubborn "only" children. After a conflict with my sister over Oreo I sent a very nasty email. At the time it felt nice to vent, but my lack of sleep that night proved me otherwise. I couldn't sleep. As much as we get under each others skin sometimes I realized that the things I said were hurtful and that a dog was getting in the way of our new adult friendship/relationship. I am finally seeing her as an adult not an overbearing older sister and I hope/think she is finally seeing me as an adult (I'm new at it and I make mistakes, but I am trying and I think she sees that now). I felt so guilty that when I left for work on Friday morning, I left Ayron a note telling him to email what I wrote to Nat. He emailed her what I said and now it seems like things should be ok. It will be hard for me to put behind me some of the comments, but I know some of the comments I made were hurtful too. I guess our mouths got the better of our brains.
